Connecticut Clean Cities Future Fuels Project

Greater New Haven Clean Cities, Norwich Clean Cities, Capitol Clean Cities and SW Connecticut Clean Cities have partnered to develop and implement a state-wide, fuel-neutral effort to deploy 183 alternative fuel vehicles (AFV) through incremental funding from the US Department of Energy, provide fueling capability for 21 additional fleet vehicles, and create the infrastructure necessary to directly support the vehicle deployments.

The goals of the Future Fuels Project are to:

  • Increase the use of alternative fuels
  • Support the availability of alternative fuels for fleets and commercial consumers along major corridors in the state
  • Raise awareness of alternative fuels
  • Foster greater understanding of alternative fuels and advanced vehicle technologies through a targeted outreach and education effort
  • Create and retain jobs
  • Reduce dependence on foreign oil
  • Reduce harmful emissions
  • Contribute to a sustainable alternative fuels market

The project will offset the incremental cost of providing:

  • Four public access fueling stations
  • Six private fleet access fueling stations
  • Deploy 181 compressed natural gas (CNG) and liquid natural gas (LNG) vehicles
  • Two light duty hybrid vehicles
  • Fuel for six hydrogen powered transit buses, eight light duty CNG vehicles, and seven light duty electric vehicles (EVs) or plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs) in Connecticut

This is an exciting project with significant impact on the state. Stay updated on public events, ribbon cuttings for new fleet delpoyments, grand openings of new alternative fueling stations, educational events and news that matters by visiting www.ct-futurefuels.com
